Carbon Emissions Reduction Plan

Bill Gosling Outsourcing Limited aim to deliver a minimum 5% per annum carbon emission reduction each year with a stretch goal of 7.5% reduction, with the aim of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. We project that by 2029 we will have reduced our emissions to 31.24 tCO2e, a further drop of 11.2%.

2024 Analysis Figures tCO2e
2024:2025 2025:2026 Reduction
Scope 1 (gas) Direct energy and processes 10.91 9.46 13%
Scope 2 (elec.) Indirect impact from electricity 5.98 6.58 -10%
Scope 3 Commuting 21.79 19.13 12%
TOTAL 38.68 35.17 9%

We have done this by focussing on several key areas:

  • Only using renewable energy sources
  • Committing to the use of public transport for business travel wherever possible, and reducing the frequency of travel between sites
  • Relying on video conferencing for more meetings
  • Reducing single plastic usage and encouraging the use of re-usable water bottles
  • The use of low energy LED bulbs in our offices and more energy efficient printers
  • Ensuring any paper waste is fully recycled so nothing is added to landfill

Future Plans

We are currently investigating schemes that we could support that drive carbon capture e.g. the planting of trees, and our internal staff committee that deals with all our local community initiatives and fund raising (Guardians of the Goslings) are developing a programme of education for all staff on the benefits of amending their diets and how this can help with their overall health as much as contributing to a more sustainable environment.

We have recently moved to new offices and our selection process was focussed on ensuring that the new office space we were selecting for the next 5 to 10 years will be more energy efficient than our previous location.

We completed our move in early 2026 and our new building has an EPC Rating of A, 65 bicycle racks to encourage staff to cycle to work with onsite shower and changing facilities, a state-of-the-art air conditioning system throughout, EV charging points to encourage the uptake of electric vehicles for people who may need to drive to work, and a Building Management System that controls all lighting and heating systems.

Calculations

Emissions have been calculated and recorded leveraging tools on the UK’s Gov.UK site, the Energy Savings Trust, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), and the UK’s National Rail and validated against the GHG Protocol Reporting Standards measures.
